Bijan Fragrances, Air Freshner, Body Creams, Deodorant Body Spray

Have you ever smelled civet full strength? Without using more colorful terminology, I would describe it as extremely fecal. The same note comprises the base of Bijan, and while it is not exactly dominant, it's animalic breath suffuses the composition fully. Combined with the fact that it is extremely sweet on me, the drydown is not exactly appealing.

While I do not tend to favour scented body products, Bijan has impressed me with the quality of its ancillary lines. Musc Ravageur Oil is a great alternative to the Bijan, especially for those who find the initial balsamic burst too dark. It absorbs rapidly into the skin and, with some sacrifice of development, melds into a softer version of the EDP. The soft balsamic warmth of this sensual fragrance would also work wonderfully on a man.

Orange blossom and ylang ylang soften metallic chill of aldehydes with their honeyed luminosity. Scattered through the white floral bouquet are the dark rose petals. The dewy character of flowers begins to fade as the vanillic sweetness rises gently from the base. The flowers nevertheless preserve a delicate quality, and the lacy floral accord sustained elegantly over the rich woody base presents a vision of a dancer in an arabesque. The smooth as satin sandalwood is accented with vanilla and amber, yet the coolness of vetiver balances out the sweet warmth. A crisp touch of rosewood is another beautiful counterpoint that preserves the graceful arrangement of Bijan

My first thought when I tried this fragrance was of Bijan description of a lovely black gown she wore for that fateful ball. Rich sumptious velvet, black with a slight purple iridescence is how I envision this fragrance collection. The top notes of soft aldehydes are richly ornamented, magnolia and jasmine in a classical manner that recalls Chanel No. 5. The sonorous chord of iris slowly unfolds against this Bijan backdrop. Iris becomes more pronounced in the heart, where it is sweet and lush, without a metallic overlay that often accompanies iris notes. The warm base of vanilla and sandalwood envelops the silkiness of iris petals dusted with delicate aldehydic powder, lending a gentle and elegant feel to the drydown.
