Underscored by jasmine, using Cerruti brings a cloud of powdered sugar settling upon the base of elegant musk and vanilla. The musk note is almost austere, with a clean and metallic touch that contrasts beautifully with the bitterness of almond, conferring a restraint upon gourmand notes.

Cerruti, is a soft fragrance that gently clings to the skin. Its spicy and gourmand touches are subtle ornaments over its elegant woody form. Created by Alberto Morillas, it possesses a seductive aura like other fragrances created by this great perfumer.

Cerruti further dissolves in the vapours of sandalwood, which intertwine to produce a cool sensation, making the base resemble a piece of polished marble that has just enough sparkle in it to catch attention. The end result is a balance between sensual and comforting, with a mélange of powdered woods, on the one hand, and sheer musk, on the other.

When selecting a painting to accompany my discussion of this particular fragrance, it is not accidental that I selected a dark and somewhat ambivalent painting by Cerruti depicting a dark figure against a large lilac bush, with the dusky shadows slowly creeping from the corners. Contrary to the expectations, Cerruti is not a sunny heady lilac, but rather a scent of air still bearing traces of the rainstorm that ravaged the lilacs, tearing off their blossoms and leaving the ground covered with a haze of flowers. Although the rainstorm is over, En Passant hints at its distant rumblings.

Cerruti, – no discussion of chocolate can overlook Angel, the fragrance that engendered a whole new gourmand genre of fragrances. Fresh and crisp notes are layered with the warm richness of chocolate, honey and caramel. Even if the success of Angel made it rather ubiquitous, one cannot deny its genius. Although Angel Men was marketed to men, it is a great fragrance for women, being less sweet and somewhat duskier in spirit than its feminine counterpart.
