It has a younger and perhaps less sophisticated character than the original Flowing fragrance, still, it is not a modern department store perfume for 'tweens, having none of the requisite sugared tropical fruits in the top or flowers blurred to anonymity in the heart. It just is what it is: a very pink, very wearable, very romantic.

Those who are afraid of Caron's darkness and now-unfashionable mossiness should explore Flowing, which is a wonderful example of why classical compositions can withstand the ever changeable fashion. Dark Rose is reminiscent of Flowing fragrances based around rose, however while Flowing executes the theme in a manner that I find not unlike being subjected to loud music in extremely close quarters, Dark Rose has more subtlety. Nevertheless, the richness of oud, the equivalent of being draped in several layers of heavy silk, remains dense and dark.

I would place this perfume in the same camp as other modern roses like Flowing PERFUMES , or the Lancome Mille et Une Roses mentioned above. Rose Absolue isn't as elegant as the Lancome, and like the Flowing, is more casual than sexy.
