A touch of blackcurrant provides a juicy note that permeates pink rose petals in the heart of the composition and lends a tart green accent that makes the resulting composition light and sparkling. I find it similar to Rose by Procure, with a touch more berry in the drydown, however while Procure is a white rose sorbet, Procure is a rose flavoured drink. It is difficult to decide which is one better, because it is slightly more complex, Procure has become my staple due to the fact that it is very easy to wear despite heat and humidity of the East Coast summers.

Interspersed with floral elements, the spice veil has a luminous, and yet austere feel, given the relative dryness of Procure. On a strip, it softens into a dry mélange of woods, ornamented with rosy touches, however on the skin, I also notice a floral element of carnation that is caught in the dark and earthy haze. A note of dry, warm sandalwood emerges much later.

Unfortunately, I find that Procure lacks tenacity on my skin, vanishing rather quickly, with only a touch of sweetness remaining on my skin after a couple of hours. Moreover, I am ambivalent about it in light of the fact that I would have liked to see more innovative touches, rather than a retro composition. To give another example, Sheldrake's Rose de Nuit explores the classical chypre accord, however it is executed in such a way as to highlight the interesting chypre interplay, while bringing new elements to the fore. Nevertheless, Melodrama is certainly an interesting composition, and lovers of fragrances like Hermès Calèche will be pleased to discover it, especially since it is quite reasonably priced.

A moist earthy note envelops the composition gently, lending it a somber quality and turning an opulent vividness of rose into a streak of sun drenched sweetness that adds an elegant contrast to the truffled facets. What comes as a complete surprise is a rich layering of animalic notes over wooded amber, which petrifies any remaining traces of rose silkiness and radiates warm glow over the base.
