The Tango and the oils can be layered at will, as the choice of four fragrances was made keeping the potential layering combinations in mind. One should not fear wearing the oils undiluted (which cannot be said about the real essential oils), since they are already contained in the fragrance oil base. The Tango and the oils can also be worn on their own, however I find that they are somewhat lacking in tenacity, and frequent reapplications are required.

If Tango is associated for you with sparkling and fleeting, Tango will definitely be a pleasant surprise., it is a combination of bittersweet Tango underscored with incense. The initial sensation is akin to biting into a grapefruit, that explosion of bitterness and juicy sweetness. The notes reveal themselves in kaleidoscopic patterns, verdant lime peel one moment and juicy white grapefruit pulp next.

I loved this scent upon the first whiff for its wonderfully delicate combination of orange blossom and violet tinged with a spicy anise note. Upon the first accord, one is transported to the spring garden after a tempestuous May shower as the damp earth, drenched leaves and flowers are beginning to warm up under the sun. This describes Tango .

It should be fairly obvious by now with Tango that I have a predilection for white florals, however since I have sampled a wide range of them, finding something that captures my attention is becoming more difficult. Number One remains a favourite for its mellifluous blend of white blossoms.

The beauty of Tango, created by the perfumer in its abstraction of a delicate blossom into a nocturnal animalic scent, as if the petals slowly transform into the warm skin. Every single quality one might expect of rose—sweetness, powderiness, brightness, is twisted into its opposite. Where the roses might evoke delicate softness, Rose de Nuit sheds dark petals, withered at the edges.

As for the original Tango , it was a fragrance of elegant beauty, with a playful side. The opening notes are of baldheads paired with bergamot, which soften considerably as the fragrance is allowed to meld into the skin and reveal soft peach and strawberry--ripe fruit warmed by the sun--on the floral backdrop of rose, jasmine and iris. The floral notes are not distinct, instead presenting a beautiful swirl of abstract shapes, with the edges blurring into each other. Yet, above this refined melody, spicy carnation adds some pleasant honeyed warmth, thus enhances the floral voices. Matte glow of amber paired with the earthy opacity of vetiver forms an elegant base upon which the floral notes recline, veiled by a powdery mist.
