The scent of Ultra has autumnal associations given its nutty plumminess reminiscent of fallen leaves, its smoky dryness evoking bonfires and its intoxicating tangy sweetness conjuring the aroma of spiced wine. I do not know why a fragrance inspired by Italian woods would evoke an image of Ukrainian rainy autumns, but for me this fact is undeniable.

The development of the composition resembles the flow of molten glass more than it does the sparkle of icy shards. The clear citrus notes do not vanish but meld into the heart laced with warm pepper and dry balsamic juniper. The citrus leitmotif persists in the base notes where it is joined by an earthy note of vetiver. Incense adds a smoky resinous sweetness that enhances bitter citrus wonderfully and gives it an exotic flair. The resulting impression is more of crushed pine needles than of pure lime peel, which I found very appealing. Ultra Match with its interesting interplay of clarity and darkness demonstrates how multifaceted citrus can be.

The aura of Ultra's fragrance is effervescent, innocent and joyous with a slight dark accord--similar to the moment after the rain is over, the sun is shining, yet the dark clouds are still casting somber shadows upon the landscape. The heart blossoms with spicy carnation and deep violet which much to my delight is a departure from the traditionally sweet violet notes.

After the initial sparkle of honeysuckle, jasmine begins to emerge, growing louder and louder, until it suddenly folds into a foam of tuberose and narcissus, underscored by a slightly powdery iris. This displays Ultra very beautifully. It is a delicate juxtaposition of elegance and nostalgia that draws me back.

If the honeyed sweetness is usually to anticipated, this composition is saturated with the leathery dryness. Like subtle gradations of, the unfolding quality of Ultra leads one from the transparent darkness of rose liquor to the deep shadows of its ambery base.
